Super Typhoon Yolanda

Today, we were told to prepare for the coming super typhoon Yolanda or HAIYAN for its international name.  It has never expected  that a super typhoon can come before this year ends, although we are still in the rainy season. Living in a tropical country, typhoon is always expected but not to the super typhoon.  It has been estimated to the maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and the gustiness of up to 230 kph. The strength of the typhoon is not safe for us especially that we had just experienced earthquakes last month and a tropical depression just earlier this week that brought whirlwinds and water spout which destroyed many houses and establishments.

This morning, hubby went to buy for our food. We stock food, emergency kit, flashlights, water and batteries. He told us that people are in panic buying of food and other important needs.  He told us that people filled their shopping bags with food, canned goods, water and bread. People are taking the government’s warning seriously about the super typhoon by saving food and some  are evacuated to safer areas. It is really important to be ready always than sorry for not taking the warnings seriously.

Tonight before going to bed, it is important to say prayers for safety even a strong typhoon will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It is important to be ready in everything no matter what lies ahead. Lord Jesus.. We entrust to you our lives.  Lord Jesus, spare us from danger.

Practical Mothers

Mothers done so much important task in the house. The usual person to know about the household management. This is one thing I am very thankful about my mother. She had to make herself available for us 24 hours every day without hesitations. She had to be always strong even problems come to test the family. She is the heart and the light of the family. I really appreciate how my mom took care all of my siblings and nurturing us in the right manner.

My mother, as my dad’s other half, he intrusted everything in the house to my mother.  From the house beautification, planning, facilitating us in school up to budgeting, it is our mother who did the execution of what they had agreed with our father for the benefit of the family. This is very important to remember for the couple even in the absence of the other half, any decisions made must be agreed upon before it will be implemented.

One thing I had observed from my sisters and even to myself being a wife, all the decisions about the budgeting for the groceries, food, bills and etc. were being entrusted to us by our partners.  This  is probably because our husbands trusted us for the monetary aspect of the family. This is one thing we can be proud of saying that our mother taught us to be always responsible in life even with the monetary aspect. Spending money in the right manner is very important. She taught us to always on being practical and never spend more than what you have earned.

Being a practical wife, I never thought of spending things that are not important to us. Things that cannot be useful everyday or neither the family can benefit upon will not be included on my list when going to the grocery. I am very particular about what to buy. I usually request for reusable bags for my groceries.  When using reusable bags, I can help reduce the problem of our environment.  A way of conserving our environment is to at least avoid using those that are not biodegradable.

Being Part of Environmental Group

The city has been recently affected by the flood since the rainy season has started. The storm and low pressure have been the other source of massive rain and thunder storm that affecting the whole country.  Recently, typhoon Labuyo has left other places with many damage. The typhoon has gone but the traces of the damages left other people with too much problems.  Many lost their livelihood, root crops and even their houses. There were some places affected by landslides.

The local Government department has already told people to implement a clean living by not throwing their plastic garbage anywhere around in which they found one factor of clogging up the drainage.  Garbage in drainage has been the source of the flood not only in the Luzon part but also in other part if Visayas and Mindanao.  Thanks to other business establishment in mall where they encourage people to use paper bag as replacement of the usual shopping bags to reduce plastic usage.

Bamboo Speaker

Last week, I saw in one of the TV shows about how can other people be more creative. They can create a piece of art using some indigenous or any natural products like bamboo as a tool of making into an art. I saw how a piece of bamboo trunk created into a phone speaker. This is absolutely natural products and very environmental friendly material which is trending in the market today.

It is a piece of art in which a person can produce into something more useful and environmental friendly.  You can see it very simple but very nice and handy.  A unique idea and creation of a person that opens the mind of many people how this simple bamboo turned out into something big.  Bamboo has been useful in many ways. It can be used as keyboard and any other musical instruments. It can also be seen in some fashion accessories and tote bags design.  Bamboo is one of the most useful tree in the world.

Online Fashion

I have seen lately even in a social media like Facebook, fashion is being top of the talks. There are many business enthusiasts that are selling any fashion collections through the social media. I admit that I am one of those who are up with the fashion especially the bags, shoes, accessories, gadgets and dresses. I am very busy at my work and I have no enough time to shop, so I prefer to do some online purchase.

Just last month, I saw some nice swimming wear attire for our pool party. I had a great idea on what to wear during the party, the swimming wear was a good inner wear to combine with a sexy plunging neck shirt and a shot together with  nice tote bags. It was the moment that we all have been waiting. The swimming wear must be purchased the soonest possible before it was being sold to others. During the event, my swimming attire looks perfectly at the concept of the event. I was really happy and enjoyed the whole time of the outings.

Fashion Statement

People nowadays are fad of fashion especially with the girls. The best way to know people that are fad of fashion is through their fashion statement.  There are plenty of fashion statement like classy, reggae, casual and environmentalist.  Reggae fashion looks nice I love the way their fashion statement expressing their selves through fashion. 

Casual is also nice being simple, comfortable and cool to the eyes is two thumbs up already. I believe whatever fashion state you may have as long as you like it go with it. You can also be fashionable and be environmentally friendly too. You can support green movement through using environmentally friendly shopping bag and green bag.

Environment Problem

The rainy days are affecting many places especially in the Luzon area. The government has recently had many problems getting rid those informal settlers that are risking their lives living nearby the creek. It’s been years since the government keeps educating those informal settlers not to leave those danger sides especially when the rainy season comes. Aside from risking their lives, garbage is found all over the place for most people are not particular to the cleanliness. This is one reason why flooding is common to the place even if it is simple rain that comes.

There are many reasons why a flooding problem is vast in many cities in Luzon. The irresponsible acts of an individual are one that can be considered as the reasons. The improper disposal of garbage, living in an inappropriate place for living, cutting of trees and a lot more that we can consider the most cases of flooding globally. It has been the prerogative of the individual of not doing such contributor of destroying the environment but some still refuse to change for better result.

The Philippine government has been providing some relocation houses for those who were affected by the relocation especially the informal settlers. A good cause of the government is being turned down by some because of many reasons they consider like the livelihood in the new location is very hard or for some would probably too far from their workplace. These are just some of the reasons why people will never prosper because they don’t want to follow the rules and would never try something that would help them have as much comfortable and safer place to stay.

The usual lifestyle will be changed into something much healthier and decent lifestyle. This is the one way of the government of promoting a responsible living to avoid any environmental problems. Some of these people don’t even care to use Enviro bags to reduce the garbage plastic problem.

A Shopping With Family

A friend of mine is an OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) for 2 years in Singapore. She arrived early this month to visit her family for 2 weeks. She sacrificed so much for her family. She is the oldest among the siblings. She took the responsibilities of becoming the bread winner since her father got sick after her mother’s death. She let her other siblings finished College. Working as an OFW for 6 years is a big sacrifice on her part but she did the right thing to give her family good lives.

Overseas contract workers are sacrificing a lot just to work hard in abroad, to give their family a life that they could never have just worked here in our place. When OFW is coming home, they usually bring many gifts (pasalubong) for their family. There are some who would prefer to buy gifts for their love ones to the mall near their place. Many are saving money abroad for their family to have a shopping spree. This is another time to make their family happy when bringing plenty of shopping bags as gifts. This is what my friend felt when she visited her family. A way of thanksgiving or 2 of her siblings graduated just this march.

Loving The Environment

Recently, we can observe some irregularities up to unpredictable changes when it terms of climate. During summer time we sometimes experienced flooding due to heavy rains. There are some phenomenal occurrences in which people are not expecting the situation could just happen at any time even out of season. There are lots of factors in which we can consider as one contributor in destroying our environment, like cutting of trees, smoke coming from vehicles and factories; and the major is the improper throwing of garbage.

There are still many factors we can consider as environmental destroyer but those factors are just coming in which basically everybody identifies it as major destroyer. Even if the occurrence of those pollutants could not be avoided, everyone must be also responsible for the awareness of how it could be avoided or lessen. Those are gradually destroying our environment.

Everyone is affected by the climate change. The sun is no longer friendly to human skin because of our ozone layer is getting thinner. People get easily sunburn due to the extreme heat that is coming from the sun unlike before we could still out up to 10 in the morning without getting burned. Just last month I went out to cut the grass from my garden and I did only stay up to 8 in the morning. I could not take the extreme heat from the sun. Life in 20 years ago was no longer the same anymore. Staying outside under the sun is no longer tolerable and no longer healthy to human.

One thing I could say about this matter, everyone must be responsible for saving the environment. There are some private agencies that advocate of living green. They educate people to live in the right manner and avoid anything that could destroy the environment. Urging people to be more responsible and planting trees or any way that the agency could share to educate everybody to minimize the global problem of destroying the environment.

Garbage is really one big issue which many countries nowadays are finding remedies to solve the problem. Some urges people to use reusable bags, green bag and Eco friendly bags to contribute an Eco friendly environment. Media is now helping to educate about the environmental destroyer and I am hopeful that everyone must be more responsible this time to help loving our environment.

Clean Environment

Recently, we have a problem recently about our garbage system here in our subdivision. Recently, garbage collectors were not up to date to their schedule when in terms of garbage collection. Garbage stocked up in our garbage bin outside the house and so with our neighbors for how many days already. In this situation, we are suffering from the bad smell and many flies all over.

Our neighbors were already complaining to the subdivision’s developer about the garbage problem and still they were looking for the solution who will take over the collections. One thing the developer had found out about why it causes the garbage collector delayed and even reached up to no collection was because some homeowners have failed to pay for the monthly fees.

 

Every home owner is now affected to the garbage problem. The problem is now getting bigger and worse. Anywhere you go bad smell is all over the place. We are partly to be blamed for the situation. Besides, this garbage comes from the individual houses. We need to clean up and must be responsible for what we are doing. We need to have clean and dispose garbage properly.

The home owner’s association held a meeting and has taken up that every household should have their own garbage bin so that flies and other domesticated pets like dogs and cats would not be able to open garbage. We also decided to buy Enviro bags to reduce plastic garbage problem. Plastic has been a big problem around the world and many countries had already passed a law of banning plastic.

Family Gatherings

My cousin has been living in the USA for more than 2 decades now and throughout those years she had not tried visiting Philippines again until early this year. Her thinking was to work and save for the family’s future while living in a foreign country. Living in the USA is very competitive and expensive if you are not striving hard. Everything is expensive that is why she and her husband has to work double time.

Early this year she and her family had the chance to visit the Philippines again. It was nice seeing her family again. We were having a reunion together with our relatives in a nice beach resort here in our place. I am her closest among the cousins. We exchange mails and calls ones in a while she was in the USA. She bought us chocolates, dresses, shoes and some cosmetics placed inside the nice tote bags. Giving us presents from the USA were great but her presence was the most among those material things which she gave to us.

Before they arrived here, I set everything up for the reunion. It was a short notice to others but they attended. I am the one who organizing the venue and food for the reunion. It was not that easy to make it realize especially that all of us are working and some were busy in school. I assigned one of my cousins to organize for the programs.

It was the most memorable part especially that our old folks will surely not live longer. It may not be the same reunion next time but truly we were glad to have it the most memorable event ever. I had to do my best planning for the program to make the event the most awaiting for all of us. The family’s reunion was very successful and memorable.

Successful Election 2013

Recently, we had a successful national election and politicians that have won the election were so happy since they were elected by the people to govern the position they were running for. Mayors, Congressmen, Governors, and party lists were the position to be filled up by those officials who were newly elected. Another twelve senators were being elected to join from the other 12 senators that are presently still in their position as senators.

Every election, as expected garbage could be found anywhere all over the country. There is plenty of garbage that is left in the streets like tarpaulin, lift lets and streamers from politicians. There’s one city here in the Philippines have waste management department recycled the trampoline and streamers into something useful like wallets, reusable shopping bags, Enviro bags and aprons.

This idea is actually really good rather than throwing that garbage into landfill and instead recycling it to lessen the plastic problem. This will make everyone happy and so with our clean environment.

Human Responsibility

There are many places all over the world are now in particular to garbage segregation. Segregation of rubbish is one of the best solutions to solve possible environmental problems. I have known one city which is in particular to garbage segregation and that is Cebu City, Philippines. In this manner, people were advised to segregate garbage properly and to educate them to be responsible for their garbage to avoid destroying our environment.

There were many reactions that came out from the community at first but they have nothing to do to change the ordinance especially that this change was in good purpose. In some middle class places, many are murmuring for the garbage segregation for they think of additional work for them. Some are thinking about the importance of segregating their garbage to make it more useful instead. The only thing people can make garbage more useful is to separate plastics, papers, biodegradable and the non-biodegradable.

I am wondering why some people have been in trouble segregating garbage. It is probably because they don’t like storing garbage inside the house or probably lack of artistic ability to recycle rubbish. On my part, it is our responsibility to dispose garbage properly especially now that the world encounters some critical problem with plastic garbage and the usual cause of floods in the Philippines.

In this manner, some city in the Philippines has to ban the use of plastic bags or any plastic base product and use paper bag, reusable bag and Enviro bags instead. At first few months’ malls, factories, establishments or markets find adjusting on implementing the law. This law is really a big help to the people and so to our environment.

Environmental Responsibility

One of the greatest problems that most countries are having problem with is the garbage. In our country, there are some places which making their garbage more useful and reusable. Officials are making some ordinance to let every household to segregate their garbage. The non-biodegradable garbage is made into bricks or anything they could think for livelihood. Making the garbage into something useful is one way to solve the problem. There are some places also are banning the use of plastic or plastic bags.

Here in our place, garbage is the number one problem we are facing. Our city officials are strict in implementing the proper garbage disposal to help our environment garbage free but there are some individuals that are taking the law for granted. It is hard to live in a place where people do not care about cleanliness even if the government implements strict law. In fairness to those who are diligent with cleanliness the place is beautiful and clean.

It is really hard to impost cleanliness to people who doesn't even care about the environment and in the end everyone will be affected and suffered from what they did. One of the factors that will cause us flooding is the plastic garbage. Plastic are not degradable and will only make the landfill overloaded with plastic rubbish. Some plastic will stick in the drainage and will cause problems with the drainage system.

It has been a while since the media are helping people to educate about the proper disposal of their garbage. There are some cities here that ban plastic bags. From the start of imposing the law, many business establishments were complaining but later realized how they could help our environment. The plastic ban really helps a lot. The usual problem about the garbage is really reduced. People have to use Enviro bags instead. Enviro bags are consisting of reusable bags, calico bags, tote bags, and Eco bags. Helping our environment starts from us. Simple discipline and following the law is a great factor to become a responsible individual even to our environment.

Reusable Bags

There are lots of strategies to market a product or company. There are some would think of marking down prices by giving discounts or giving you a buy one take one of their products. Some would simply give you freebies that have their company’s name printed on. These are not new to the business world. These are just part of the company’s marketing strategy that successfully advertising their products or services.

 A friend of mine had recently bought many reusable bags to wrap up their products during their company’s anniversary. Having some attractive printings, important company details and logo which is printed on, is certainly the best marketing strategy and advertising technique.  Many companies are adopting the style of using freebies that surely people would appreciate and comfortable to bring along. Many people love having an all purpose bags that is made up of natural materials and an eco friendly items.

I was once invited in a launching of a company before. Part of their strategy was giving out freebies like mugs, fans and reusable bags. I really enjoyed attending such event that eventually enhances me to new things. Having a souvenir item with the name and date printed on is another factor that eventually reminded me of being part of the event.
