Keeping on Guard

School days are fast approaching. I can now smell the fragrance of the ink of my pen on the notebook. I am having a vacation hang-over since I had a great summer experience this year. It just that great experience happens in unexpected situations. Our house had been ransacked while we are on our way to the beach. Lockers are supposedly to tighten the security of our house but that did not just worked. Worst than ever they jammed especially the wood lockers, forcing us to break our cabinets to see if some of our jewelries were saved. Fortunately, some of the jewelries where is there. It was just funny because they did not manage to unlock the wood lockers forcing them to just jam it off. Those thieves are unconscious that there are lockers for sale that are as durable as we have. Good thing they didn’t took much from our house.

Going back to the school thing, I am now more vigilant to thieves; first part of my preparation is to secure a school locker. This would be one step of keeping my things safe while busy on academic field. Since I still have a Physical Education subject, I also secured my own trusted gym locker to assure that the locker will not be as lousy as security would be. Even in my car I produce a specially made alarm expecting that the feeling of being robbed will not happen to me in jeopardy. My best part of duty will be on guard while I am in school this school year. It will be one busy, vigilant year.

A safe storage compartment

Have you heard about locker? Some lockers are made up of wood and some are steel. I appreciate the concept on how it was built to store things in which many people could enjoy the storage compartment without requiring a large area. There are many places in which lockers are very useful. Examples are in schools, offices, gyms, airports and etc.

I remember when I was working in a big company with many employees; I was once assigned to make canvass of locker for sale in our town. It was a big tasked to my part especially that getting the best quality of lockers at the least price was very difficult. There were many procedures to make on purchasing an item with huge amount involved. The standard procedure of canvassing the prices must be observed and must be presented into detailed.

There are numbers of features or characteristics in which lockers may vary especially the width, depth, height, color, thickness and etc. It was an exhausted but very challenging tasked to my part because I was given the chance to practice the standard way of purchasing an item with a large amount involved from canvassing up to purchasing it.

When we had chosen the supplier for our lockers, we then presented the proposal to the rest of the employees. Most of the employees preferred to use the wood lockers but one of our supervisors did not agree on wood locker. She said there must be a variety on the lockers we have chosen and that she suggested of having our gym lockers made up of steels. Our gym was on separate building which was attached to our building. She also added that having steel gym locker gives additional beauty to our gym. Her suggestion was being agreed and approved by everybody. Every one of us was confident that our things left in our own lockers was safe and secured.

College Life

I have a niece who is a senior student now in college taking up nursing. She used to be one of the finest and popular students in her nursing school department. Lately, before the Christmas break we never seen her on our family gatherings because she was busy on her studies and doing her hospital on-the-job training as well.

When my niece’s school year started, their newly elected school director bought new lockers for the students. The goal of the school this year is to promote the importance of a locker for the student’s convenience. It was then a good year for my niece and her batch mates for having their new school lockers for their stuff. As senior nursing students, they used to bring all their hospital training stuffs and books in the morning to refrain delays from their hospital duties at night. So my niece had decided to rent school locker so that she could leave her books while she was on her duty.

I remembered during my College years, I was once a varsity player for Taekwondo. I used to have a gym locker in school. Before I rented my locker, I usually brought home my Taekwondo gears and my school things at the same time. It was a big hustle to my part especially bringing all those stuff everyday. As the school athletes, we were required to rent gym lockers for our convenient in coming to our different classes. It was then I realized how important locker was to me in school; especially if I have many things to carry with me everyday.

A Week to Remember

This week our town has been damaged by a strong typhoon that lasted for more than 5 days. Finally, this afternoon the sun came out to dried up the flooded areas. Many places have experienced landslides; some lost their houses and even their love ones. All flights were canceled; schools, offices and other establishments had suspended their regular operations due to the flash flood. The flood left us many problems; our electricity, drainage and water system was also been destroyed.

Today is our first day back in school since classes was suspended last Monday because of the typhoon. Many students fail to attend from their classes because their school materials were still wet and some lost everything they got for school due to flood. This morning, I am one of those who came to school with complete books and school materials. Before the typhoon had started, I left my things inside my school locker to secure it from getting wet by rain or flood along my way home. Most of the students had experienced tremendous tragedy; by then the school president requires each students to have their school lockers for their convenience and to lessen the possibilities of loosing their things again during this natural calamity.

Our teachers in Business Math also reported that she just lost her school records and personal papers when her car washed out by the flood last Tuesday night. She was thinking of having her things safer inside her car rather than using her own locker. Most of our staff in the faculty forgets the importance of having their lockers for their school papers. Through a single negligence she made causes her so much work.

One of the highlights in our school for this month is the final game for the Inter school Basketball leagues this coming Saturday which will be held in our opponent’s place. Our school is representing our town to fight for the best against the current Champion. We are so blessed that all of our players, even those who were affected by the typhoon, had saved their uniforms and left it inside their gym lockers. One of my neighbors, who use to be the team captain, saved his uniform when he forgot to bring it home and left it inside his gym locker. He was lucky when the typhoon came and everything in their house got wet, useless and destroyed. Nothing was left to him but his dry dirty basketball uniform inside his gym locker.
