A Lady Finger or Okra Plant

It is a good to eat vegetables. Just this lunch we had a bunch of vegetables for our viand taken from our small garden outside the house. The vegetables are very sweet especially that all are fresh. I like to eat vegetables especially in soup with lady finger or okra and malunggay. The usual soup we make is just plain vegetables without meat or fish.

I have read some articles about the lady finger or okra. The vegetable alone has much nutritional value that is good to our bodies. Lady finger is rich in folic acid which is good for pregnant women. It has vitamin c and antioxidant that can help asthma. There are many studies about the vegetable but one thing is good about it is the nutritional attributes that is best in our body. The health benefits and the nutrition are what matters the most.

Happy Easter Sunday

Today it is Easter Sunday. I love to hear most people around our neighborhood, regardless the religion, are  talking about going to church.  It has been a while since I haven't gone to church because of some health problems. I really miss coming to church to sing and hear about the gospel of God.

There are lots of families are gathering on the beach after church. This is the only time where they can enjoy the good weather at the beach after the long holidays. And to some people are now traveling back home from vacation. It is really good to spend time to relax and enjoy the holidays. It is the time where everyone can enjoy the moment having outside their usual place.

The real essence of the holy week is the remembrance of Jesus Christ's death on the cross to redeem us sinners.  It was done ones and it is being remembered forever by the Christians. Jesus loves us all.  Happy Easter everyone!!!

Holy Friday

Philippines is celebrating the Holy Week. Everybody loves the long holiday week. There are many people especially the Catholics are observing the VISITA IGLESIA, where many people are coming to many churches to attend mass. Some are spending their holy week to beaches or a vacation travel. Time to relax and enjoy the week without thinking anything about their job.

It is Holy Friday, many are preferring to stay in their house with their family. Most families are preparing TABIRAK or BINIGNIT during this season. Our neighbor and I are now preparing binignit as well. Can wait to taste it. Yum yum yum!!!

Reusable Bags

There are lots of strategies to market a product or company. There are some would think of marking down prices by giving discounts or giving you a buy one take one of their products. Some would simply give you freebies that have their company’s name printed on. These are not new to the business world. These are just part of the company’s marketing strategy that successfully advertising their products or services.

A friend of mine had recently bought many reusable bags to wrap up their products during their company’s anniversary. Having some attractive printings, important company details and logo which is printed on, is certainly the best marketing strategy and advertising technique.  Many companies are adopting the style of using freebies that surely people would appreciate and comfortable to bring along. Many people love having an all purpose bags that is made up of natural materials and an eco friendly items.

I was once invited in a launching of a company before. Part of their strategy was giving out freebies like mugs, fans and reusable bags. I really enjoyed attending such event that eventually enhances me to new things. Having a souvenir item with the name and date printed on is another factor that eventually reminded me of being part of the event.

It is all about Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is a celebration of giving thanks for the blessings of God. Countries like the United States, Puerto Rico, Liberia and Norfolk Island Thanksgiving is celebrated in the month of November and for Canada, it is celebrated on the month of October. President Abraham Lincoln declared this celebration during the Civil War. It has officially been a yearly tradition since 1863 and in every fourth Thursday of November.

In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is a huge celebration. The Americans serve variety of food especially turkeys and pies during the festivity. Almost all Americans travel a lot of miles just to attend this gathering. A department store in Midtown Manhattan, New York City has an annual parade with a marching band and huge balloons of cartoon characters since 1924. Some stores offer a huge discount on their items during Black Friday (Friday after Thanksgiving Day).

In some Asian countries, there is no particular month or date that people are gathering for Thanksgiving. The feast of saints is like the Thanksgiving Day in the Philippines. Every patron saint is celebrated in different months and in different ways. For example: the feast of Saint John the Baptist (Fiesta ni San Juan Bautista), people in every town or city that has Saint John the Baptist as their patron saint throw water to the passing cars and people in the streets of their place. Some towns or cities have the same patron saint like in Cagayan de Oro City and Bacolod City; they both have Saint Augustine (San Agustin) as their saint.

Christmas day in the Philippines is celebrated not only for the birth of Christ; it is also an opportunity for the family members to have a reunion. Family members go to their parent’s home to give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for another year has passed and another is coming.

There are a lot of reasons to celebrate Thanksgiving and there are many things people can be thankful for. It could be their success of their careers, job promotions, having a successful business, having a good harvest and etc... Specific dates aren’t really necessary. In fact, we should be thankful each day that another day has come and will come into your life. Parties, food, turkeys and drinks are not necessary if there is something you are thankful for. During bedtime, you should pray and be thankful for another day has passed.
